Contributions 2019

There are many contributions to Dan's memorial fund , some via fund raising events and others via donations. Below is a selection of just a few that we received during 2019.  Please visit Dan's  facebook page to see all the donations we receive.

Since we started raising awareness 4 years ago we have spoken to hundreds of people about Dan and CRY at places such as supermarkets, schools, presentations, carnivals & screening days etc..One such conversation has led to a very generous donation of £10,000 from a person who wishes to remain anonymous

Sammi Louise Clewlow organised a netballl

tournament in June with 20 teams competing from all over the West Midlands & Cheshire; the event took place at Holmes Chapel Leisure Centre. Stoke warriors were the eventual winners beating Stafford diamonds in the final.

The event raised  £3,242.00 for Dan's memorial fund.

In April I joined a team from Elworth Cricket Club who were doing a version of the 3 peaks to raise money to host a screening day at their

clubs ground near Sandbach, Cheshire. We stared off by climbing Snowdon followed by a 12 mile walk to the next mountain Y-Gard, and then a drive up to  the Lake district to climb Sca-Fell. I admit I didn't make the last one but the rest of the team did  and raised £3,500.

Sue started walking 5 miles per day on the 19th of March 2019 and finished on the 19th of March 2020 which marked 5 years since Dan passed away.

In September we had the pleasure of meeting Pat Trafford (secretary] and some of the members of the Staffordshire Moorlands motorcycle club who have very kindly donated £1,105 to Dan’s memorial fund raised at their charity event earlier this year. Your donation is very much appreciated.

In November we were at a thoroughly enjoyable evening at the Museum pub in Newcastle for a football quiz organised by Melvin Clewlow. There was a really good turnout for the quiz, raffle and auction. Melv, Angela & Sammi had obviously put in a lot of hard work and it was great to see so many people enjoying themselves,

On the far left is Liam Pelaczck; in the middle is Dan Parkes who both completed a 10,000 ft sky dive in memory of his brother Ben and raised £1,400.  On either side of Sue are Gavin Skerratt (on the right) and Kristan Lowe.  These 2 staged the Ben Parkes & Dan Hughes memorial fishing match in October which raised £1,672.46.

Dan also generously made a donation to Dan's memorial fund following the death of his mum Karen who had supported us many times.

In December Gareth Jackson & Josh Lias raised £408.86 by playing darts for 24 hours  at the Brindley's Lock pub , their spirits were kept up by Harry Needham and we popped along for the last few hours.

Craig Mason & Emily Day staged a quiz night in February and then ran the London marathon in April to raise funds for CRY & Dan's memorial fund.

Local charity Harp of Gold have supported us since we started Heart Screening and over that period they have donated enough money for us to screen 66 local young people. The picture on the right is Sue and myself receiving a cheque from them in February.

In August Gemma Higginson completed a 10,000 ft skydive at Tilstock airfield and raised £1,465.30.

My Auntie Kath sadly passed away in October, She was well liked and respected in the village having ran her own Hair Salon in Audley for many years. We are indebted to Kath's close family for choosing Dan's memorial fund to receive the donations from the funeral and everyone who very generously donated a total of £1,004. God Bless Auntie Kath xxx
