Sue passes 2,000 miles walking for Dan
As I’ve done since we started, here is the yearly update on Dan’s memorial fund. 701 screenings done this year, the most we have done since we started and means we have now screened 1,903 young people in total. You have donated £63,000 this year which means Dan’s fund has now reached just over a Quarter of a Million at £252,000.
We’ve been involved in more events than in any other year with there being an increase in the number of fundraisers being staged by Dan’s friends and supporters so thank you to everyone who has organised events. We opened the garden, brought CRY an ECG machine, I’m now a bereavement counsellor for them and we took screening to Barrow in Furness.
Next year marks 5 years since Dan’s death and we will be remembering him with a couple of events which we will let you know about in due course. All that’s left is to say thank you for your support, it’s truly humbling and we never take it for granted, and to wish you all a happy and prosperous new year from Kim, Sue and Myself.
Audley Male Voice Choir
Saturday 16th November Thank you to Audley Male Voice choir and everyone who attended the concert. Another lovely evening of entertainment which raised £688.31 for Dan’s memorial fund.
1st Memorial ride for Dan Hughes
On Sunday 22nd September there will be the first memorial ride for Dan Hughes. This charity ride has been organised to raise awareness of Cardiac Risk in the Young with 100% of all monies raised from the event going towards future heart screening sessions within the area.
Thank you to Mark Riley for all his hard work in organising the 1st Dan Hughes memorial bike ride today, it’s a shame the weather this morning put a few people off because the 14 riders who turned up completed the 50 mile course without getting rained on! Thank you also to his partner Sarah and everyone else who either baked or donated cakes. It looks like the ride will have made around £400 for Dans memorial fund which is great for its first year. Well done Mark, all the riders and Neville Benson for being on standby in case anyone needed assistance out on the course.
Dan Hughes Memorial Cricket Trophy
Daniel Hughes Family Fun Day & Cricket Tournament
14th July 2019 - Bignall End Cricket Club!
Update on last weeks cricket day. To date we have counted £6,125.45. We still have a number of pledges and donations to collect and estimate that when they are all in we will have raised just over £8,500. Absolutely staggering support from the people of the parish and beyond, more to follow when we’ve got everything in. Thank you from the Hughes family
